Lumencraft
I may be reading a bit too much lumencraft lately; night before last I dreamed of a second-generation Surefire e1b and how it'd work - there were three little tricolor LEDs in the reflector in a line at hte bottom, they didn't offer illumination like the Aviator, just little 1.5mm signal lights. You'd unscrew the head a half-turn, and press the tailcap switch to cycle modes, then when you tightened the head it'd lock in that mode. The lights came on green, for a blinding white-LED mode, and dim green, which was a nice and useful low, yellow, which meant the diode was running in "Xenon mode" or a nice yellow-white full-spectrum mode, at reduced efficiency, and the little lights would come on red, which meant that you had just toggled the emitter over to a low-intensity red light for night vision. Nanotube-based LEDs will probably make some of that possible, by replacing the phosphor in traditional white LEDs with a much more efficient (quantum?) process that offers very tight control over which spectrum is produced from the blue light from the diode. Dammit, now I want an e1b Backup. Current Mood: hungryCurrent Music: technologic // Human After All by Daft Punk | | Thursday, February 14th, 2008 | | 11:33 am |

Dungeons and Dragons
Anyone else looking forward to D&D 4.0? It looks interesting... much of the suck of 3.0/3.5 should be fixed, but we shall see if it's actually fun. Current Mood: tired | | Wednesday, August 8th, 2007 | | 12:27 am |

Nifty story http://www.environmentalgraffiti.com/?p=163My sister had a macbook, until it was spilled upon. She wasn't in the room at the time. The spill was on the keyboard, and the lid was closed on top of it. My mother just found out. Thinking of getting a used Treo with a contract paid for by a coworker's old boss. this is kinda neat - anyone know how to upload pictures from Windows Mobile 5 to LJ? Current Mood: tiredCurrent Music: Offspring - Gone Away | | Monday, May 14th, 2007 | | 3:49 am |
School starts again to..er, today. I need to be in bed. First, you need to know about this. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=339ixMtHrVk&mode=related&search=This is not, in fact all, but need some sleep. Quickies: I got the Klipsch ProMedia 2.1 speakers for $102 with a Sprite and 8 AA batteries. I need another 2 credit hours; but the 3 credit hour 'Drawing 1' class meets from like 1:00 to 5:00 monday to thursday. WTF, Sir. 16 hours a week. I think not. From The High Road: Ms. Reilly goes on to state: “Is it really that important to own a gun? If there were no more guns, I think we would all feel a lot safer because the criminals would not have the power of a gun over our heads. They would have to rely on their own defense, and they are too cowardly to do so.” [...]
Ms. Reilly’s statement sounds eerily like one made by Larry Hincker, Virginia Tech spokesman, on January 31, 2006. This statement was made in reference to the Virginia General Assembly voting down a bill which would have allowed Concealed Carry Permit holders to carry a concealed weapon on campus. He said: “I’m sure the university community is appreciative of the General Assembly’s actions because this will help parents, students, faculty and visitors feel safe on our campus.” His career is officially over as soon as someone brings this up. Gun Control
"Let's think about this rationally. Given: There are as many guns as citizens in the US. Given: In this state, a little over ten percent are gun-owners. Given: Over 75% of these guns are not owned for hunting. Let's combine the last two of those, and assume that ten percent of Floridians own a gun for self-defense. Look around this classroom. How many students are there? About fifty? What would have happened if, when the madman opened fire, five of your peers drew and returned fire? I promise, things wouldn't have gotten nearly so bad." Whew. Feels good to finally put that down on ASCII. Can anyone spot a flaw in my logic I missed? Felt like crap the past few days
Been out sick with a rather nasty digestive bug since Tuesday. Been getting better since Tuesday night, when I had a fever of 102.2 after sucking on an ice cube (?!) (Yes, right in that spot where the thermometer goes. If it measures the temperature of blood going to the brain...) but I've been on a short leash to the bathroom despite this. I think my appetite's coming back now, and my temperature's normal for the moment. Trying to get summer classes, but the stupid website times out even on DSL. I told 'em I wanted a handgun and a D&D book for my birthday, and so far I got a package of AA batteries. I just realized how sad that sounds. Of course, it's ignoring the checks and Best Buy gift cards, but...those don't really factor into how I feel about it. | Lucky Shuffle My green iPod shuffle from DealsPlus came in - unfortunately, they didn't have it etched with "Congratulations from DealsPlus" they just etched it with "Deals Plus" which is a fine reminder that I won it for free, but is too much of a shameless plug for my tastes. | Current Mood: hungryCurrent Music: Vending machine hum, and snippets of random conversations |
