I may be reading a bit too much lumencraft lately; night before last I dreamed of a second-generation Surefire e1b and how it'd work - there were three little tricolor LEDs in the reflector in a line at hte bottom, they didn't offer illumination like the Aviator, just little 1.5mm signal lights. You'd unscrew the head a half-turn, and press the tailcap switch to cycle modes, then when you tightened the head it'd lock in that mode. The lights came on green, for a blinding white-LED mode, and dim green, which was a nice and useful low, yellow, which meant the diode was running in "Xenon mode" or a nice yellow-white full-spectrum mode, at reduced efficiency, and the little lights would come on red, which meant that you had just toggled the emitter over to a low-intensity red light for night vision.

Nanotube-based LEDs will probably make some of that possible, by replacing the phosphor in traditional white LEDs with a much more efficient (quantum?) process that offers very tight control over which spectrum is produced from the blue light from the diode.

Dammit, now I want an e1b Backup.

This statement was made in reference to the Virginia General Assembly voting down a bill which would have allowed Concealed Carry Permit holders to carry a concealed weapon on campus. He said: “I’m sure the university community is appreciative of the General Assembly’s actions because this will help parents, students, faculty and visitors feel safe on our campus.”

His career is officially over as soon as someone brings this up.

"Let's think about this rationally. Given: There are as many guns as citizens in the US. Given: In this state, a little over ten percent are gun-owners. Given: Over 75% of these guns are not owned for hunting.

Let's combine the last two of those, and assume that ten percent of Floridians own a gun for self-defense. Look around this classroom. How many students are there? About fifty? What would have happened if, when the madman opened fire, five of your peers drew and returned fire?

I promise, things wouldn't have gotten nearly so bad."

Whew. Yes, the world shows evidence of an intelligent designer, but one with a sick sense of humor. Therefore, the Satanist might conclude, Intelligent Design is correct, and we should worship the Devil, since the world seems more like his handiwork than the Other Guy's.

The Revealer: Malevolent Design

Doing a short paper for Population Biology + Evolution.

This struck me as really funny for some reason.

technorati tags:intelligentdesign, ID, humor, warped, population-biology, UCF

<lj:music>Steve Conte & Shanti Snyder - Living Inside the Shell - GitS: Standalone Complex OST 2</lj:music>

Finals week. Wednesday is physics, which I need a good formula sheet for (damn, I wish I knew we could use those on the other tests) and organic chem and anatomy on Friday. I'm understandably terrified and procrastinating. On to the memes.

Kinda suprised at what I tested as, but the fact that it was almost a three-way tie does not suprise me. I think that hacker inclinations pushed lawful, honestly - I expected chaotic good/neutral and true neutral fighting it out.

You scored as Chaotic Good. A Chaotic Good person is someone who has little intrinsic respect for laws or authority, seeing them as insufficient to sustain what's right. These people work according to their own moral compass which, while good, is not necessarily always aligned with that of society. Despite their chaotic tendancies, these people are good at heart.

Chaotic Good

70%

Lawful Good

70%

True Neutral

60%

Neutral Good

55%

Lawful Evil

50%

Neutral Evil

35%

Lawful Neutral

35%

Chaotic Neutral

30%

Chaotic Evil

10%

</td>

What is your Alignment?
created with QuizFarm.com
